The climbing shrub known as giloy (Tinospora cordifolia) has a member of the Menispermaceae family of plants and grows on other trees. Although it is native to India, the plant can also be found in China, Australia, and some tropical regions of Africa. In Vedic and traditional cultures, where it is used to cure a variety of illnesses, it is regarded as a crucial herbal remedy.

Ayurvedic medicine uses every component of the plant. Still, it is believed that the most beneficial chemicals are found in the stem. The Indian Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia has authorized the stem of the plant for medicinal use.
