guggul Des Img Left

Gum resin, or guggul, is derived from a number of native plants found in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India.

Boswellia serrata, Boswellia sacra, Commiphora wightii, Commiphora gileadensis, and Commiphora mukul are a few of the important species. All plants belong to the family Burseraceae, which is commonly referred to as the family of incense.

Similar to how maple syrup is taken from maple trees, guggul sap, also known as gum guggul, guggula, or gugulipid, is tapped from the plants.
